How to clean a dusty car interior and dashboard

A practical order for mats, dashboard and trim that avoids moving dust from one surface to another.

Remove loose dirt first

Take out removable floor mats and shake them away from the car. Vacuum seats, seams and footwells with a suitable attachment. Use a soft brush or clean microfiber cloth to lift dust from vents and dashboard edges. Removing dry grit before wiping reduces the chance of dragging it across glossy trim or screens.

Match the cleaner to the material

Dashboards, fabric, leather, touchscreens and piano-black trim are different surfaces. Check your vehicle manual and the cleaner label; test a hidden area first. Surainbow describes S14 as an interior cleaning foam for suitable cabin surfaces. Apply as its bottle directs, wipe away residue with a clean cloth and ventilate the car afterward. Do not spray controls or screens directly unless their maker allows it.

Clean before adding a finish

A dressing is a finishing step, not a substitute for cleaning. Surainbow lists S13 for suitable plastic, rubber and vinyl trim. Once the surface is clean and dry, use the dilution and application directions on your own bottle. Keep any dressing away from the steering wheel, pedals, glass and other surfaces where a slippery or reflective film would be unsafe.

Keep the routine simple

Keep one cloth for interior plastics and another for glass. Vacuum loose dust regularly before it becomes embedded in fabric. If a stain spreads or changes colour when tested, stop; the material may need a different cleaner or professional care. Use the leather guide for leather-seat treatment rather than treating every seat like plastic trim.

Before using any product, check surface compatibility and follow the bottle and vehicle instructions. If unsure, test a small hidden area first.
