How to clean car tires before applying tire shine
Clean the sidewall first, then apply a controlled finish without coating the tread or brakes.
Why tire shine should follow cleaning
A shiny product laid over dust or old dressing can look uneven and transfer grime. Begin with tires that are cool to the touch. Rinse away loose dirt and work on one wheel at a time with a tool reserved for wheels. Keep this tool separate from the cloth or mitt used on painted panels.
Clean the tire sidewall
Surainbow lists S18 as a tire and plastic cleaner. Confirm that your tire and any nearby plastic are suitable, then use the bottle directions and an appropriate brush or cloth. Work only on the relevant surfaces and rinse thoroughly. Avoid splashing cleaning product onto brakes or allowing it to dry on hot wheels.
Apply shine only to the sidewall
When the tire sidewall is clean and dry, apply S6 as directed on its label, preferably in a thin, even layer with a dedicated applicator. Do not put dressing on the tread, brake disc, brake pads or bicycle and motorcycle tires unless the label specifically says it is suitable. Wipe away excess and let the finish settle before driving.
Check the result
Inspect the sidewall in daylight. An even finish is better than piling on more product. If the tire still looks patchy, clean remaining old residue before trying another coat. Store tire tools separately from glass and paint towels to avoid transferring oily dressing during the next wash.
Before using any product, check surface compatibility and follow the bottle and vehicle instructions. If unsure, test a small hidden area first.
